INDOOR SCHOOL GYM
MILE School’s physical education program entails educating children to the proper use of their body and how to manage it when in movement.
In the first five years of primary school, training is typically functional and consists of floor exercises and training with small weights to increase the fitness and coordination of the child.
Practical experience is supplemented with the study of the musculoskeletal system, of the bone structure, of the joints, and of the muscles to discover how these elements interact both in everyday activities and when practising sport. The complementing of theory with practice allows the child to be more knowledgeable of and become more aware of each individual movement. Lastly, particular attention is paid to nutrition with the aim of teaching students the energy mechanisms that the human body activates during sport and everyday activities. Studying this helps children become aware of the beneficial effects of sound eating habits on their wellbeing and health.
SPORT CENTER ACTIVITIES
MILE School believes sports activities are an excellent means of promoting individual and social growth and development. Once a week, students are taken to a partner sports center, where they have the opportunity of carrying out various sporting disciplines on a rotating basis. According to a different rotation determined by grade, during the year, MILE School Primary students practice in MC2 sports club swimming, comprising diving and underwater exercises, artistic gymnastics to develop body movement control, ball games to encourage socializing, and beach games to develop coordination and fitness on sand’s uneven surface. MILE School Middle students practice rowing in Canottieri Olona, they alternate with indoor teachings of team sports theory and practice.
