From MILE to UWC

A dream comes true: the story of an authentic and passionate young man who will make an important contribution to the whole world.

Dear families,
It is with great emotion that I share with you this wonderful news about a former pupil of our school.
Riccardo was one of MILE's FIRST CLASS students.
He was one of the students who first experienced the entire school cycle up to Grade 8 of Middle school.
Those who have known me for the longest time know how much I am linked to the UWC United World Colleges that have been present in Italy since 1982, in Duino.
It is important that the existence of this incredible reality is known.
I think you can imagine how much happiness has given me the news that Riccardo was admitted to UWC colleges.
Riccardo wanted to write a letter to our school and I am immensely grateful to be able to share it with all of you.
Today more than ever I feel, and I am sure I am speaking on behalf of the whole community, I am privileged to have been part of the growth of an authentic and passionate person who I trust will make an important contribution to the world.
Today more than ever, I hope and trust that our children and young people will play an active part in improving our wonderful world.
Thanks Riccardo, we wish you a wonderful life!

Fouder MILE School

Hi, my name’s Riccardo.
I’ve been a MILE student from 2011 to 2017.
MILE School has given me a lot by making me the interested, curious and enterprising person that I consider myself today.
In this school I learned the value of internationality and the value of the result obtained with passion.
After MILE I went to a more traditional high school but I’ve always maintained an incredible desire to discover and learn about the world, cultures and people. This is why I attempted the selections of the United World Colleges (or UWC), a spectacular school movement that makes education a force to unite peoples, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. About 30 students were selected from all over Italy (out of the approximately 400 applicants). I incredibly did it: in August I will start my IB Diploma course in the UWC USA college, in Montezuma, New Mexico.
This is a dream come true for me and I’m convinced that I would not have come this far without what MILE sent me and for this I owe it a very big thank you.
I invite you to follow my adventure in UWC and to deepen all the details at this link:
