Celebrating multilingualism

At MILE Bilingual School every student can reach their full potential regardless of their native language. Our strong bilingual curriculum ensures fluency in English and Italian, while also offering Spanish, French, Chinese or German as additional languages.

Our Multilingual Intervention (MMI) team supports students and families with personalised help, extra resources, and regular meetings to boost English and Italian language skills.

English

English, alongside Italian, is the main language of learning and communication between students and teachers, from Nursery up to Lower Secondary School.

Subjects are taught in both languages, ensuring that by the end of their studies our students achieve a level of English equal to their Italian, thus becoming truly bilingual.

Such a thorough command of English opens doors to opportunities worldwide, providing a crucial competitive advantage in today’s world.

Spanish

Spanish is an optional language that students can choose to study both at Primary and Lower Secondary School.

In addition to developing essential language skills such as grammar and vocabulary, students immerse themselves in the rich culture and artistic traditions of Spain and Latin America through engaging and collaborative activities.

They discover traditional celebrations such as the Mexican Día de Muertos, explore artistic expressions such as Picasso’s style and deepen their knowledge of geographical regions such as Andalusia.

French

French is an optional language that can be chosen and studied both in Primary School and in Lower Secondary School.

In Primary School, French is learned through educational games that support the acquisition of vocabulary, sounds, comprehension and oral communication.

From Lower Secondary School, the study becomes more structured, with greater focus on grammar and the development of reading and writing skills. The aim is to help students reach an intermediate level of proficiency, enabling them to express themselves confidently and clearly in informal communication situations.

Chinese

Chinese is an optional subject in Primary School.

The teaching method is based on storytelling, using videos, images and stories that illustrate the origin and development of Chinese characters.

This approach helps students understand the meaning and structure of the characters more easily, making them easier to memorise and taking them on a fascinating journey into an Oriental culture.

German

German is an optional subject in the Bilingual Primary School.

Students learn the language through educational games, songs and guided exercises, gradually discovering simple vocabulary and grammatical rules.

In addition to strengthening multilingual skills, studying a Germanic language with its cases develops logical thinking and essential syntactic abilities, which are particularly useful for those who may choose to study Latin at upper secondary school or university.
